26 June, Perak- Ministry of Transport (MoT) had organised a working visit to the KTM Academy, Malaysian Rail Academy (MyRA) in Batu Gajah, Perak that was led by the Secretary-General of MoT, YBhg. Datuk Isham Ishak to deliberate more on the initiatives of developing the National Rail Centre of Excellence (NRCOE).
The presentation was delivered by En. Hasry Harun, Director of Rail Centre of Excellence, TDA focusing on the Strategic Plan which has been designed to stay ahead in the constantly growing rail industry in Malaysia. On top of that, the main objectives of NRCOE are to focus on Human Capital Development (HCD), Rail Industry Development Programme, Testing & Certification and Research & Technology. The ICP Programmes have developed so much on HCD such as Signalling and Rolling Stock by Thales, France and CRRC, China that will be evolved to other ASEAN countries.
One of the key points mentioned by YBhg. Datuk in his speech that, the collaboration between NRCOE and KTMB, Myra with the local rail industry players could bring a good transformation in increasing efficiency of services to public and productivity within 15 years in order to be the leading human capital development, capability enhancement of local rail industry players, as well as research & development in ASEAN. The initiative also helps in boosting the ecosystem in Batu Gajah through the localisation programme with the involvement of local enterprise companies.
Datuk Isham also mentioned, he will chair the 1st steering committee meeting on the 30th June together with 10 ministries and government agencies to kick-off the NRCOE programs officially.
